What our alumni are saying

"The MISE program was an excellent window into how many professionals, both instructors and colleagues, go about their work every day: leading cross-functional teams, managing global projects, even exploring new business ventures. The coursework is expansive in scope and focused on the application of sound systems thinking in decision making, design optimization, complex system modeling, and an array of business-oriented challenges. The class interactions fostered a collaborative environment where everyone is eager to learn, comfortable to contribute and looking forward to the next challenge.

The Master of Industrial & Systems Engineering degree boosted my confidence to navigate business environments beyond the scope of my prior technical engineering training. It provided the credentials for advancement in leadership roles both professionally and in my local community. The program equipped me with technical tools for analyzing and managing complex decisions, where a compromise between competing requirements must be reached while holding true to the specified mission.

My experience in the MISE program has been an asset to both my personal growth as an immigrant, a husband and a father of two energetic boys, as well as my effectiveness as a Human Factors engineer at the PACCAR Technical Center working on a mix of current and future technologies."

"The MISE program allowed me to not only grow in my professional career in program and project management but also teach me valuable techniques and ways to work with my coworkers to develop cross functional teams, establish detailed technical processes, and present business opportunities for our clients.

Soon after my bachelor’s in civil engineering that I looked for a program that would allow me to continue my career as a consultant but to also grow my skills in managing programs, developing technical models, and challenge me to work alongside others coming from different backgrounds. The classes were interactive and allowed me to grow quickly in each course, giving me chances to be innovative, learn from my classmates, and strengthen my skills to be an asset to my career.

This program embodied teamwork and allowed me to network with colleagues I would have never met in my career, learn from their experiences in their industry, and collaborate on projects that were designed to challenge and innovate the way we think.

Since being a part of this program, I have noticed large improvements in how I manage teams, present information to my clients, and become a leader in program and project management for technical teams. This program was truly a blessing allowing me to find my passions, build upon them, and help grow my strengths. I am proud to say I am a newly appointed manager at my firm and the MISE has been a large contribution to my success so far."

"I have seen significant improvements in my life and career as a result of becoming a graduate of the MISE program at UW.  At the time I started the program, I was a new employee at Boeing; working as a Methods Process Analyst in the Industrial Engineering community.

Since my graduation in 2016, I have been promoted four times, my salary has nearly tripled, and I am now happy to say that I have had the opportunity to lead numerous Industrial Engineering teams across multiple sites and programs.  The MISE degree opened up so many doors and opportunities for me that would have previously been out of reach.

I am so grateful for the MISE program and for how flexible it was for a working professional.  I would highly recommend this degree to any and all interested in technical leadership and/or leadership in general."
